FRIENDS OF RESCUED ANIMALS (FORA)- HOMELESS BY CHRISTMAS WITHOUT YOUR HELP 

Pro-life animal rescue centre FORA must find a new property by Christmas for 600 dogs and 200 cats after the sale last week of the Roodepoort property leased to founder Marlene de Beer six years ago by benefactor Bill Joffe in memory of his wife Francis Petlyn. 

WE ARE APPEALING FOR YOUR HELP PLEASE DONATE WHATEVER AMOUNT YOU CAN MANAGE TO HELP US SAVE OUR DOGS AND CATS and PLEASE SEND EMAIL TO ALL THE ANIMAL-LOVERS YOU KNOW. 

“We are definitely not closing, we are relocating, just as soon as we raise enough funds and finalise the right property”, says Breggie van Loggenberg, FORA manager since the death from cancer of Marlene de Beer in 2005.

The staff and volunteers at FORA are devastated at the need to find a suitable property and raise sufficient funds in a very short space of time. We send out an urgent plea for your help, be it in the smallest way. We need to raise R3.5 million to buy a suitable property & put-up kennels, runs and other infrastructure. 

Please think of all the dogs and cats with us at present but also those who will have nowhere to go in the future. We are a group of mainly volunteers who have spent years putting our time and care into running the shelter. These animals have become our friends and our family and we will not rest until we have secured a new home and secure future for them.

HELP SOMEONE THIS CHRISTMAS!!
For many, this time of the year everyone is making Christmas arrangements, looking forward to that well deserved time off work. Families get together and gifts are given. For us it is like a bad dream. Our home caters for 30 adult residents suffering from psychiatric disorders such as Bipolar and Schizophrenia. Many of whom their families have abandoned them and our home is the only place they have. This time of the year many relapse and are admitted into hospital or they just get severely depressed as they recall times when they had their families surrounding them and loved ones who cared. They receive a disability grant of R940 of which they pay R700 towards board and lodging. For the residents of Ebenezer there isn’t a Christmas function or presents to exchange and no turkey on the table. Ebenezer House assists the Department of Health in their efforts to move from custodian care to rehabilitation projects. We also assist disadvantaged communities and work in tandem with the complementary services provided at Discoverers Hospital. We have various workshops that we need to run during the week, but have no funds for the material needed for soap making, candles, decoupage, cards, woodwork, bead work and gardening. We are also looking for contract work in order for the residents to receive an income. We would like you to please help us make this Christmas special. If you could help us in any way to get food on the table, and presents under the tree, we beg you to get in touch with us. Any outings or help you could offer will be appreciated. SPARROW NEEDS HELP
The 270 children and adults living at the Sparrow Rainbow Village are calling on the community to assist them. Residents can help by donating food, by keeping them in your prayers and in any other way you think you can bring joy to these terminally ill and destitute children and adults. Sparrow not only cares for its own residents, but also supports 140 organisations who care for over 4000 children and 6000 adults in very poor communities. SPARROW NEEDS HELP
Sparrow Village urgenlty needs a big generator for the village. They have babies and adults on oxygen machines, and when the electricity is cut, they have to rely on cylinders.
